Welcome

If you are feeling sad, isolated or alone, or perhaps have difficult decisions to make, I invite you to have a look at the following information and then telephone or email me for a confidential, informal chat to help you decide whether counselling is for you.

Who Am I?

Susan OakleyI am a fully qualified, experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist working face-to-face with individuals and couples. My background is in education and I have long experience of working in schools and in Higher Education using counselling skills with children of all ages and students, including those with special needs and learning difficulties that affect their lives and relationships. I also work with older people who may find themselves on their own and needing support.

As a qualified relationship counsellor I see couples together or partners on their own. In relationships small problems can become big ones if they are ignored, and I believe it is important to talk about feelings and difficulties before things grow more serious. I have several years' experience of working with couples, married or not, who are looking to rebuild their relationship and move towards a deeper commitment. My aim is to help you recognise the negative cycle that is keeping you apart and causing sadness and anger, and help you both to communicate again, without judging you or taking sides. Sadly sometimes relationships fail in spite of everyone's efforts, and if this is the case I can help you work towards a good "ending" for all concerned.

I am a registered and accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) (www.bacp.co.uk) and undertake continuous professional development, training and supervision.
